I recently learned that the city of Vienna is actually located in a valley. So, using the extremely convenient public transportation, I ventured to Kahlenberg, a hill located in the 19th district that boasts a view of the entire city from above.
One aspect that appeals to me most about Vienna is that it takes just a short metro or bus trip to leave the hub of the city, ride through the ‘suburbs,’ and find myself surrounded by mountains and vineyards.
After enjoying a frothy cappuccino on a deck overlooking the valley, we took a brief hike down the hill and caught a bus back to the U-Bahn (metro) station. It was an easy, effortless excursion that I will likely make again in the spring!
